beautiful lake tahoe

The end of July I headed north... from San Diego, to the bay area where my parents and I drove to Tahoe where I had the pleasure to be part of Ashley & Billy's Wedding. Before the festivities began Friday I had the pleasure of staying at my godparents beautiful cabin in Tahoe City, take a few hikes with my parents, and a wonderful boat ride and picnic with my parents and godparents! The same time last year I was in Tahoe for my god-sister's wedding.
Here is a few pictures from the festivities last year:

Every time I have opportunity to go to Tahoe, Summer or Winter, I am in complete awe of the beauty the lake and mountains have to offer and this trip provided more of the same!

This trip started off with a hike of Five Lakes. My dad had fond memories of this hike from umm... about 30 years ago despite my mom's warning of the difficulty of this hike from her memory. Despite the warning, Dad persisted and off on the hike we ventured. I was on vacation and basically up for just about anything! The hike was very difficult and with the first 2 hours straight up-hill (no lie) there were a few times I didn't think I was going to make it. My parents encouragement and persistence I did make it and was very thankful for it!

The hike takes you up between Alpine Ski Mountain and the backside of Squaw Valley. (This is a shot of Alpine's Mountain)

Mom & Dad taking the lead.

We could see new ski lifts that will connect the 2 mountains! Dad brought his fishing pole hoping to fish at the lakes.

We saw lots of wild flowers along the way!
First sight of water (WE WERE THERE!)
While Dad got out his fishing pole in attempt to catch some trout, Mom and I decided to go exploring for the other 4 of 5 lakes. We were not successful but did have lots of fun hiking & rock climbing!

The top of this "rock pile" is where we climbed.

Melting snow in July!

True to Fiebiger hiking tradition, we didn't bring enough water or any snacks. The hike may have been a little more bearable knowing a picnic lunch was waiting for us at the top (but the lunch at the bottom at The Bridgetender wasn't too shabby either, and the perfect food for our future naps!)

The hike down the mountain took a fraction of the time it took to get to the top. Thank goodness!

The next morning, my Godparents, Ron & Kathi, had arrived while we were sleeping, after enjoying coffee and breakfast on the deck we planned the rest of the day. The afternoon was filled with a boat ride...

Emerald Bay
where my Dad and god-father met us for a picnic lunch on the boat. The boat ride back to Homewood (where we started) was the perfect nap time for a few of us! It was then off to Kings Beach to begin the wedding festivities, stay tuned for that next blog post!
